Lombok And Gili Islands
Gili Islands in Indonesia are just 3 hours away from Bali, where we had our home. Lombok is only a 10-minutes speed boat ride away. It’s a popular destination for diving, snorkeling or maybe just for having a romantic break from the overcrowded Bali. Out of the three Gilis we chose Air, as it seemed like a good balance between the hordes of half-naked tourists on Trawangan and the secluded at that time of the year Meno. There are no motorized vehicles allowed on the island, but you can easily lend a bike or hire a horse carriage, if you need transportation. It’s a good place for watching sunsets, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a huge turtle or a bathing horse.
Lombok is a less developed brother of Bali, but it has its amazing wide beaches, scenic drives, and the mighty mount Rinjani, the second largest volcano in Indonesia.
